Email signature banners
Ok, before we get ahead of ourselves let’s just talk about email signature banners. Email signature banners are a contentious issue, done well they are an excellent way to draw folks attention to the thing you’re trying to promote, but done badly and they’ll likely upset many of your contacts. Remember, with email signatures less is definitely more, so keep banner images as small as possible, ideally, no more than 10kb, with a maximum height of between 90 and 150 pixels. When designing a banners aim for a web resolution of 72dpi so that it can be displayed correctly on smartphones and within preview panels. Your banner must be consistent with the rest of your email signature and make sure it’s clickable, and ideally trackable. Also, keep in mind that many people will be reading their email on a variety of different devices and clients, so avoid animated GIF’s.
Brand Awareness
Using your email signature for brand awareness is the ideal starting point for any new organisation or startup. In addition to including the company name and web address, why not add a company logo or profile photo of yourself. Building brand awareness is all about creating trust, so why not share a link to one of your latest case studies? Social media links are also a must as you try to get your organisation noticed.
Product Focus
Do you have a new product announcement or want to promote a seasonal offer? Adding a time-limited promotional banner to your email signature is a great way to make new and existing customers aware of your latest products, and services. Promoting a mobile app, why not include a direct link to the app marketplace for one-click installation? Or maybe consider using your email signature to generate leads via webinar or one-to-one demo of your latest offering?
Business Expansion
Looking to hire new talent can be difficult, but your email signature could be utilised to help attract additional staff. Consider including a link to your careers page, or create a banner advertising a specific post that you’re having difficulty filling.
